Bobbing for Apples!
In ancient times, unmarried women would try to catch an apple in their mouth from a tub of water. The belief was that the first person to catch an apple would be the next to marry. Some variations of the game involved women peeling an apple in one continuous strip and throwing it over their shoulder; the shape the peel formed on the ground was believed to be the first letter of their future husband's name.
